Abdominal injuries are not uncommon in sports and athletics and Dr. Clearfield has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of various sports-related abdominal conditions, including the elusive sports hernia. He is able to use musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK US) to assist in the diagnosis of many of these conditions, which has the added ability of watching you move in real-time (dynamic evaluation) which can make MSK US more accurate than MRI in certain situations. In addition, Dr. Clearfield has shown himself to be a regional expert on the rare but debilitating condition of anterior abdominal cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome (ACNES).
